OPPORTUNITIES
OHJA PROGRAMS
The OHJA is proud to offer educational, financial, and equitation programs to its members:
Academic Scholarships (Deadline - November 15, 2025)
The OHJA awards academic scholarships for up to three applicants each year. You may apply for a scholarship if you are attending, or planning to attend college (community or university), graduate school, or a vocational school.
Scholarships are awarded based upon information provided in the scholarship application, academic transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Finalists are invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee in December. Scholarship recipients are announced at the Annual Awards Banquet and Fundraiser; funds are disbursed directly to the recipients’ chosen accredited educational institution.
The amount of the scholarship awarded varies based upon funds raised throughout the year. The OHJA relies on donations to the Scholarship Fund to offer scholarships. If you are interested in donating directly to OHJA’s scholarship fund please contact the Scholarship Representative.
Applications for scholarships are due on or before November 15 of each year. We encourage applicants to begin the application process early in order to complete their application on time. Application materials can be sent directly to the Scholarship Representative.

Junior Equestrian Fund
The Junior Equestrian Fund (“JEF”) presents opportunities for junior members to volunteer with fun, fundraising events that raise money that young riders (21 and under) can apply for to help defray costs of attending a national Finals competition.
The Junior Equestrian Fund (“JEF”) was established by the OHJA to provide financial assistance to young riders, twenty-one (21) or younger, who compete at regional and national Medal Finals or other Finals classes, including the Young Rider, the Maclay, Pony Finals, and USET.
JEF holds fun, fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for this program. Volunteering for the JEF is easy and is a great way to get to know other junior riders in the community.
Applicants for JEF funds must have actively participated in the fundraising activities in the current year and must make a formal application to the OHJA Board. Funds are approved and awarded after the young rider attends a Final based upon several factors, including the availability of funds, number of applicants, and a demonstrated commitment to OHJA fundraising. If you would like to apply for assistance, please complete the Junior Equestrian Fund Request Application.
For more information about JEF, how to get involved, or how to apply for funds, please contact the JEF Advisory Representative. Online forms to apply are coming soon!
