Dear OHJA Member:

            I am pleased to present the Oregon Hunter Jumper Association’s 2011 Rulebook with the updated bylaws and rules.

            One of the most significant changes to the 2011 Rules is that OHJA now has only two ‘categories’ of shows at which OHJA members may accumulate points: (1) Non-Rated Shows, which are OHJA-approved shows and are not USEF- and/or Equine Canada-rated; and (2) Rated Shows, which are all USEF- and/or Equine Canada-rated shows.  OHJA no longer defines shows as “Regional System” or “Local System”; these shows are now all defined simply as Non-Rated Shows. 

            There are still three systems of OHJA membership: Open, Regional, and Local.  Open System members can accumulate points only at Rated Shows.  Regional System members can accumulate points at Rated Shows in Oregon/SW Washington and up to 3 Non-Rated Shows, and Local System members can accumulate points at Non-Rated Shows, any USEF “B” or “C” Rated Shows in Oregon/SW Washington, and up to 3 USEF “A” or “AA” Rated Shows in Oregon/SW Washington.  There are also more classes eligible for year end points and awards in the Local System, including those eligible for Certificate of Merit points.

            All year end equitation awards are now combined to include points accumulated both over fences and on the flat, rather than as separate year end awards.  There are also additional changes to the equitation divisions for junior exhibitors.

            Because of the extensive rule changes adopted this year, the OHJA Board has decided to include in the 2011 Rulebook both a “clean” version of the 2011 Rules, and a “comparison” version comparing the 2011 Rules to the 2010 Rules.  Hopefully, the “clean” version will be more ‘user friendly’ and easy to read.
